A new play with church hymns, LIZZIE BRIGHT AND THE BUCKMINSTER BOY is a unique coming of age play based on the true event of an island’s destruction in 1912. Peopled by a colorful cast of characters—the crusty Mrs. Cobb, the wicked Mrs. Elia Hurd, a bully named Willis, a racist Sheriff, greedy church deacons, the puritanical Reverend Buckminster, and two 12-year old heroes: Lizzie Bright Griffin and Turner Buckminster III—this lovely, heartbreaking, and very real story doesn’t always go where you think it will, but in the end it goes to a movingly spiritual place.
